The Pathway to the Future is not yet constructed

Story by the visionary Dr Gerald M. A Jones

“My personal Pathway to the Future remains a work in progress.”

A quick overview of my passionate fields:

Water and environment

I love being outdoors and working in a sector which benefits both nature and society.

Music

Piano playing, song-writing, concerts: music has always been a special part of my life.

Tango

Somehow I got in touch with the tango scene, fell in love and founded the Secret Tango Stories.

“Innovation, creativity and music lead me to an unknown destination!”

My musical journey started at the age of 4 when I began piano lessons. My father was a teacher of music and for many years he was also the musical director of a large amateur Operatic Society in Wales. I began to write songs in my teenage years. We all had dreams to follow a path to fame and stardom like the Beatles and Rolling Stones! Alongside my passion for playing rugby, I managed to find some time to study at school.

I love being outdoors and this lead to my interest in rocks and fossils together with archeological excavations.
Someone, somewhere suggested that I should study Civil Engineering at University. Obvious, I suppose, because it combines my outdoor interests with my aptitude’s and interests in mathematics and physics!

I went to Swansea University in Wales. Being close to the sea was a big factor in my decision! I left with a Doctorate 7 years later. I was extremely fortunate to have two eminent mentors in Alec Gorecki and Olgierd Zienkiewicz.

With four other friends we also managed to re-vitalise the University music scene. This brought bands such as Cream, Pink Floyd, Colliseum, Canned Heat, Fleetwood Mac, Stone the Crows, Chicken Shack and Wings to play gigs at Swansea University.

I have always been driven by a need to work in a sector which benefits society. This has lead to a professional life spanning over 35 years in the Water and Environmental Sector. My activities have been multi-disciplinary including a range of disciplines from underground and above ground infrastructure, microbiology, robotics, intelligent video analytics, water chemistry and toxicology and many more. At a personal level my passion is to remain curious and to learn continuously by myself and with others.

My personal Pathway to the Future remains a work in progress.

My company Corinium Innovation Ltd has a mission to take Ideas (Intellectual Property) to Market.

My track record provides me with a foundation for continuing and future success. Innovation is the profitable exploitation of ideas. My experience in working with numerous small and large companies as wells as with talented Doctoral and Post-Doctoral people, together with acting as a founding Director of Modern Water plc (through to it’s listing in the London AIM market), provides me with the necessary confidence and experience.

My musical journey continues together with my musical and social tango dancing activities. My activities with the founding of Secret Tango Stories are actively continuing in my role as Executive Producer and investor.

The Pathway to the Future incorporating innovation, creativity and music is exciting as it travels to an unknown destination!
